Big East Expansion? Better Believe It

Word is that the Big East is looking to expand to a 12-team docket, complete with a championship game. The expansion plans are currently on hold... until the specifics of a possible TV deal are worked out. The Big East will be the only major conference without a new TV deal, and that is a good thing for the conference - they will be able to negotiate with impunity. Each of the Pac-12, Big 12(-2), Big Ten(+2), SEC, and ACC have 10+ year deals already inked. If the Big East thinks that adding three teams will increase the overall revenue, you better believe it will take that route.

After the jump are a few of the expansion candidates being talked about:

The Best (and Worst) developmental programs

The blogger UpUpDownDown on Black Heart, Gold Pants (an Iowa Hawkeyes Blog) posted a very interesting analysis of the best and worst developmental programs:
"stars matter, but they certainly don't tell the whole story. Even among those bluest of the blue-chippers, the 5-star recruits, the large majority will never be drafted! Motivation, injury and life all play a big role, but the differences between programs must matter."
He goes on to list the best and worst programs at developing talent, using statistical methods (much like I do here!).

Enjoy.
