2009 Conference Champion: Texas Longhorns 13-1 (8-0)
2009 Conference Runner-up: Nebraska Cornhuskers 10-4 (6-2)
2009 Bowl Record: 4-4
Bold Prediction for 2010: Baylor goes to a bowl game.
Team Rankings: The Big 12 had somewhat of a disappointing year. Oklahoma suffered through waves of injuries and 5 losses. Oklahoma State had a good year, though did not live up to the high expectations lofted upon it. Missouri was a full two games behind Nebraska in the North, and the rest of the division withered, especially Kansas, which entered the year hoping to contend for its first North Crown. Robert Griffin-less Baylor floundered, and A&M's porous D prevented its powerful offense from getting the team over 0.500. 2010 will be the last year of the Big 12, with Nebraska and Colorado leaving for the Big Ten and PAC-10, respectively. Once again the expectations for the Big 12 are high, with 3 teams in the preseason top 10 lists; only time will tell if the conference will again disappoint.

Awards!
Best Showing in an Out-of-Conference Game:
Oklahoma State 24, Georgia 10. When your best win comes against a team that finishes 8-5, you know the OOC slate is pretty thin.
Worst Showing in an Out-of-Conference Game:
Toledo 54, Colorado 38. Big 12 teams should not trail MAC schools by 20 at the half. Nor should they give up 300 yards rushing. Nor 300 yards passing. Colorado did all three.
Best Conference Game:
Texas 13, Nebraska 12. Colt McCoy. Ndamukong Suh. Championship on the line. The game was a defensive struggle, with both quarterbacks throwing three interceptions and accumulating 308 yards... combined. Nebraska sacked McCoy nine times - but on the (second-to-) last play of the game, ironically the pressure from the defensive line forced McCoy to roll out and throw away the ball, leaving the now-infamous 1 second on the clock.
Best Showing in a Bowl Game:
Nebraska 33, Arizona 0. In a rain-soaked Qualcomm Stadium after a drubbing of the Wildcats, Nebraska coach Bo Pelini exclaimed, "Nebraska's back, and we're here to stay." The verdict is out on the Cornhuskers, but in this game at least, they certainly looked the part. Arizona had 37 TOTAL YARDS with 6:50 remaining, and the dormant Husker offense awoke for 396 yards.
Worst Showing in a Bowl Game:
The Refs in the Cotton Bowl. Seriously? An Ole Miss defender was clearly offsides when Zac Robinson threw the ball away - which was then intercepted. Replay confirmed that the interception was good, but was unable to throw a flag on the offsides. (Retro-active penalties are outlawed.) Check out the injustice here.
