Awards!
Best Showing in an Out-of-Conference Game:
Florida State 54, BYU 28. Florida State toppled the BCS-buster darling in Provo. Unfortunately, it all came crashing back down the next week for FSU.
Worst Showing in an Out-of-Conference Game:
TIE. William & Mary 26, Virginia 14 and Richmond 24, Duke 16. Two ACC schools lost to two FCS schools on opening weekend. Yikes. And the next weekend, two more came close: Florida State was trailing Jacksonville State in the fourth quarter, and Maryland was nearly upset by James Madison.
Best Conference Game:
Miami 38, Florida State 34. A crazy back-and-forth game was highlighted by Miami quarterback Jacory Harris' 386 yards (most ever by a Miami player against Florida State). Florida State drove to the red zone as time was winding down, but was unable to complete a pass in the endzone as time ran out.
Best Showing in a Bowl Game:
Virginia Tech 37, Tennessee 14. Virginia Tech destroyed the Volunteers, outscoring them 20-0 in the second half en route to the Hokies' sixth straight 10-win season.

Iowa 24, Georgia Tech 14. Iowa's ferocious defense held Georgia Tech to 143 rushing yards -- less than half of their season average of 307.2 ypg.
