Overall Record: 13-7
Thursday, September 15
LSU 24 @ Mississippi State 20
The Tigers have some trouble with the Bulldogs in the house of cowbell, but the Mad Hatter gets it done.
Friday, September 16
Iowa State 27 @ Connecticut 21
Iowa State gives the folks in Ames something to be excited about... until Big 12 play starts next week.
Saturday, September 17
West Virginia 35 @ Maryland 24
Dana Holgorson's new offense will be on show in a close game that swings back and forth
Washington 20 @ Nebraska 31
Some people swear this one will turn out like the first UW-UN game last year (56-21, Nebraska), while others think the second meeting will prove true (19-7, Washington)... I'll call for the average.
Texas 20 @ UCLA 12
The only thing more dysfunctional than the Texas Offense is the UCLA Offense.
Auburn 30 @ Clemson 20
What is it with those Tigers (from Auburn)? How many close games can they win? What is it with those Tigers (from Clemson)? How did they almost lose to Wofford? For the Tigers (from Auburn), this one will be a breather... The Tigers (from Auburn) win by two scores.
Pittsburgh 17 @ Iowa 27
Teams that lose to Iowa State are angry (they lost to Iowa. State.) Iowa angry, at home, channeling its anger toward a Pitt team that has been ok-not-great this year gets it done.
Utah 17 @ BYU 20
The Holy War. The Mormons (from BYU) show the Mormons (from Utah) that Independence is better than being in the PAC. ...(learned last week while in Austin?)
Michigan State 34 @ Notre Dame 31
Notre Dame will be hungry, but Michigan State knows how to play defense. For those in South Bend, De-fense is a noun, that means,.... you know what, I won't even bother.
Game of the Week: Oklahoma at Florida State
Season Record: 1-1
Oklahoma O vs FSU D: Oklahoma's pass-happy attack returns most of its stars from 2010, and the Sooners won't be slowed down for 4 whole quarters. OU+3
Oklahoma D vs FSU O: FSU QB Manuel hasn't been exactly on fire this year, but the attack has been steady, and this unit will be the best Oklahoma has faced so far this year. FSU+1
The Venue: This is the biggest home game for Florida State this decade. Bob Stoops, when asked about getting FSU's best shot, quipped, "Not to disparage Florida State, but we're kind of used to that." +/-0
The Verdict: Oklahoma +2
The Prediction: The game is close for the first half, but midway through the third, the Sooners start to take command. Though it's closer than last year, Oklahoma simply has too many weapons on offense.
Oklahoma 35, Florida State 27.
