Week 7 Predictions

Week 6 Record: 6-4
2010 Overall Record: 42-18 (70%)

Thursday, October 14
Kansas State 24 @ Kansas 13. Daniel Thomas, the Big 12's leading rusher of 2009, is eager to show his pathetic performance against Nebraska was a fluke in the Sunflower State Showdown with 2-3 Kansas.

Saturday, October 16
Illinois 22 @ Michigan State 31. Will Sparty have a let-down after beating up on big brother Michigan? The Illini served notice last week with their dominant defensive showing against Penn State, but Michigan State's balance on offense should win them this game.
Missouri 34 @ Texas A&M 31. The Aggies are reeling after two straight close losses (to Oklahoma State by 3 and Arkansas by 7), but neither of those took place in the intimidating confines of Kyle Field. Missouri's defense will face its first major test of the season.
Texas 16 @ Nebraska 27. Nebraska gets revenge for the heart-wrenching end to the 2009 Big 12 title game.
Arkansas 31 @ Auburn 35. Both teams win by offense. Auburn's is slightly better.
Iowa 20 @ Michigan 17. Iowa has a better defense than Michigan State, who bottled up Denard Robinson quite well last week.
Cal 20 @ Southern California 21. The Trojans couldn't possibly lose three straight, right? RIGHT???
Mississippi State 13 @ Florida 21. This game will be closer, and I could imagine the boys with the cowbells pulling it out, but Urban Meyer's not going to let this team lose yet again, and definitely not at home.
Oregon State 38 @ Washington 27. Washington's Offense should be able to slice up the Beavers' D, but Washington's defense surrenders more real estate than Poland during WWII.

Game of the Week! Ohio State at Wisconsin.
GOTW Record: 5-1
Ohio State comes to Camp Randall Stadium, where the Badgers are nigh-unbeatable.

  • Ohio State O vs. Wisconsin D. Terrelle Pryor has improved as a passer, but the Buckeyes sometimes have trouble generating big plays against quality opponents. Wisconsin's defense is solid, and should force Ohio State to take long drives to the goal line. +/- 0
  • Wisconsin O vs. Ohio State D. Wisconsin struggled at times against Michigan State's defensive front, and Ohio State has a more talented defense than the Spartans. OSU -2
  • Home-field advantage. Wisconsin has gone 40-4 at home since 2004, and 25-28 in night games at Camp Randall. Wisconsin +2
  • The Stat. In one computer poll, Ohio State ranks 22nd, due to its strength (or weakness, in this case) of schedule. The Buckeyes get a huge chance here to prove their mettle against a top 25 team.
The Verdict: +/- 0
The Prediction: Ohio State 24, Wisconsin 17.
