Overall 2010 Record: 7-3 (70%)
I was spot-on with some picks; with others I was way off. I'll go through my picks, gloating my successes and mourning my failures.
Thursday, September 2
Record: 4-0
Stream-of-consciousness for the day: South Carolina has an offense. Middle Tennessee is a Sun Belt team with a (suspended) BCS quarterback. Pac-10 must be happy about Utah. Iowa State isn't bad?
Saturday, September 4
Record: 2-3
Stream-of-consciousness for the day: Michigan starting out strong (again). Kansas State can run the ball on anybody, but pass on nobody.Washington is a Sunbelt team with a (not suspended) BCS quarterback. TCU is a legit BCS-buster. North Carolina's 2nd string is NOT a Sun Belt team.
Game of the Week! Analysis: Boise State 33, Virginia Tech 30
Why I was right:
- Boise jumped out to a 17-point lead, destroying the home-field advantage (for a while)
- Boise State out-passed, out-rushed, and out-special teamed Virginia Tech
- Kellen Moore continued his freakish performance of last year: 23-38 for215 yards and 3 TDs against a very good Hokies defense
- BSU's defense held Virginia Tech's talented running backs to 55 yards on 28 carries
- the Broncos blocked a punt and won the points-off-turnover battle
- I was right; It was a great game.
