I was 8-0 going into the last two games of the night, but alas....

Week 3 Stream of Consciousness: Kansas gets my award for most inconsistent play. Loss to N.Dakota State, Win against Georgia Tech. Loss to So.Miss. What's next for old KU? I wish I felt like Turner Gill knew... Georgia Tech got it done against a team missing 12 starters. Congrats. ... Ryan Mallett is the best QB in the SEC. Too bad his team can't play defense... Virginia Tech's season isn't completely lost.... Jake Locker lost a million dollars for each pass he threw (and, on Saturday, 30% of those were caught. and 33% of those caught were by the guys with the 'N' on their helmets.)... BYU is going to struggle for even 4th place in the Mountain West this year... Auburn got soooo lucky. SEC! SEC! SEC! ... Texas looked bad. Texas Tech looked worse. ... Houston lost its starting QB. Then its backup QB. ouch.


Week 3 WTF?!?
WTF, Clemson?!? you let a 17-3 halftime lead disappear, then had a holding penalty on the kick that would have guaranteed you another OT? seriously, Clemson, WTF?!?
WTF, Jake Locker?!? you let a multi-million dollar contract pass you by... for this? Being harassed by the Nebraska defense, then tossing your worst game of your career? Jake Locker, Heisman candidate, first overall pick, and ...3rd lowest completion percentage in a game since 2004?... dream on.
WTF, Michigan?!? you get a special on gameday in which Erin Andrews is drooling over your sophomore QB and you go get behind to freaking UMass 17-7 before you get your act together and win by 5, 42-37. Better hope that defense gets better before Big Ten play starts.


Game of the Week. Arizona 34, Iowa 27.
GOTW Record: 2-1 (66.7%)
Why I was wrong:

• Iowa's defense was picked apart by Foles, even though in general, the pressure was good.
• Iowa made uncharacteristic mistakes early, forcing them to abandon their run game early. They were never able to recover.
• Arizona took advantage of Iowa miscues. It's no good unless you can capitalize, and the Wildcats did just that.
• Arizona didn't get down when the going got tough. They let Iowa tie the game up, but came up big on drive for the last touchdown, then made a huge defensive stop to seal the win.
